Reporting that explains. Records people can use. A platform for participation.
The People’s Register brings reporting, political analysis and practical public information into one connected publication. Rooted in Nelson Mandela Bay, our work follows the decisions, institutions and ideas that shape people’s lives.
Read the RegisterWhy the Register exists
People need more than a headline. They need to understand what has happened, what has been promised, who is responsible and how to take part.
We connect the story to the record. An explainer can lead to a published commitment. A candidate search can lead to a ward ballot. A ward page can lead to local voting-station information. Reporting, context and practical tools belong in the same public conversation.
Our purpose is to build political understanding, strengthen public accountability and make useful information easier to find, read and question.

TPR began by recording work on the ground. It has grown into a publication that can explain developments as they unfold and organise a much wider public record.
Today, current reporting sits alongside analysis, opinion and searchable election information. Readers can move from a national list to their own municipality and ward, then return to the reporting that gives those records context.
That evolution has one purpose: a more informed public, a stronger culture of accountability and more meaningful participation.
The record grows through participation
Bring evidence, an informed perspective or a story from your community. Stay connected to the reporting and help keep the public record accurate.
