The TPR research desk

Your experience.
The public record.
A better question.

What was promised? What does the record show? What still needs an answer?

Help us follow the decisions that shape daily life. Bring a question from your community, point to a public document, or challenge something we have published.

Three useful starting points

Help shape the next investigation.

01 / Follow the commitment

From a promise to a public record.

Which project or service needs an explanation? Link the budget, council decision or published commitment. Tell us what is unclear.

Bring a local issue →
02 / Check the register

A name, a ward, a missing entry.

Point to the exact page and supporting IEC record. The candidate register currently uses the September snapshot; later additions are still pending import.

Query an election record →
03 / Improve the explanation

Tell us what you could not find.

Which part of a story, public process or tool is difficult to understand? A concrete example helps us make the publication more useful.

How a lead becomes a finding

Listen. Check. Ask. Report back.

  1. Read and group

Identify the place, claim and requested check. Link duplicate submissions to one case; repetition is not independent confirmation.

  2. Test the evidence

Compare primary records and dates. Separate first-hand experience, a public source and an allegation. Record what remains uncertain.

  3. Seek a response

Ask the responsible institution to address material questions and give people criticised a fair opportunity to respond.

  4. Publish what holds up

Explain the evidence, limits and response. A confirmed record error receives a correction note. Private submissions are never published automatically.

Contribute to the work

Make the question specific.

A useful lead connects a place, an issue and a checkable question. Share what you know and distinguish it from what you want us to establish.

First, give the issue a focus.

Choose a topic and broad location. A municipality and ward help us connect your question to the right record.

Now, tell us what needs checking.

At least 50 characters and eight words. For a correction, identify the entry and the change you believe is needed. Do not include ID numbers, private addresses or information about how someone intends to vote.

A municipal notice, budget, public meeting record or other checkable source helps. You can submit a lead without one; it remains unverified.

Choose how to stay involved.

May we contact you for clarification?

Optional. Your contact details stay with the editorial team and are not published.

Submitting does not publish your account or subscribe you to email. We cannot promise to investigate every lead. This is an editorial service; election administration queries still belong with the IEC.
