Advertising standards
Paid content must be clear to the reader.
Every booking has a named advertiser, an agreed scope and a visible label. TPR reviews the material before it appears and keeps responsibility for its publication.
Identify the advertiser and the payment.
Homepage advertising carries the label Advertisement. A sponsored feature carries Sponsored content: paid for by [advertiser], with the advertiser named on the full feature and its promotional listing. Any social promotion also identifies the content as paid.
The label remains visible alongside the content. Advertiser logos or a partnership description do not replace it.
Keep editorial decisions with the publication.
Advertising does not purchase favourable news coverage or editorial endorsement. Claims, permissions and destination links are checked before publication; published errors remain subject to correction.
A booking buys the agreed advertising placement or production work. Advertisers can check the facts and approve their paid material within the agreed proof round; they do not control TPR's reporting or news decisions.
Support the claims and clear the rights.
Advertisers must identify their business and provide accurate material, supporting evidence for material claims, and permission for supplied words, images and logos. Prices and offers must state relevant dates and conditions clearly.
TPR can request evidence, require amendments or decline material that cannot meet these standards. Errors are corrected, and content may be removed where necessary to meet legal requirements. Request a correction.
Respect readers and their privacy.
These packages are for commercial advertising and sponsored business features. They do not include paid political targeting. Private reader submissions and inferred political preferences are not used to target these placements.
These placements use static material and ordinary destination links. Advertiser JavaScript, autoplay media and tracking pixels are not accepted. Links paid for through a booking are marked rel="sponsored" for search engines.
TPR will use these details to respond to your advertising enquiry and manage any resulting booking. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to newsletters or promotional emails. Read the privacy and consent notice.
Agree the scope before the work starts.
An enquiry does not reserve a placement. The placement, dates, supplied material and quotation must be agreed before the booking begins. Fees cover the agreed placement period or production work. They are not charged per thousand impressions and do not guarantee views, clicks, enquiries or sales.
The rates page sets out placement duration, feature hosting and the included proof or revision round. The specifications explain what to supply.
Read the standards behind the policy.
TPR's editorial standards govern its reporting and corrections. This advertising policy follows the clear distinction between paid and editorial content set out in the Press Council's Press Code (PDF), and the paid-link guidance in Google Search Central.
