SAWS’s election-week outlook, reported by SAnews on 1 November 2026, includes heat and possible thundershowers as voting approaches.

The outlook for 2–4 November

For special voting on 2–3 November, isolated to scattered thundershowers are possible in several areas. On Wednesday, 4 November, central and western areas can expect fine, warm to very hot conditions. Parts of the east may be cloudy and cool, with morning drizzle along the eastern Drakensberg and isolated afternoon thundershowers.

SAWS advises water, rain protection where needed, extra travel time and updated forecast checks.

Preparedness and access

In a separate 1 November readiness update, the Inter-Ministerial Committee said current forecasts did not indicate significant adverse weather on Election Day.

The committee said Home Affairs front offices would open from 08:00 to 18:00 on 2–3 November, and 07:00 to 21:00 on 4 November, to assist with identity documents and temporary certificates where applicable. Collecting a document still requires planning for the journey to your voting station.

Check the station as well as the forecast

The IEC remains the official source for registration and voting-station information. Government’s 31 October preparation guide directs voters to confirm their details online or through the IEC on 0800 11 8000.

Use TPR’s special-voting guide to check the distinction between an approved home visit and a station vote, and confirm that arrangement separately from the forecast.
