Keep the record accurate

Bring the evidence.
Help correct the record.

A useful publication must be open to scrutiny. Raise a specific factual concern so the editorial team can check it.

Tell us exactly what needs checking.

Include the page link, the sentence or record you are querying, the proposed correction and any supporting public document or source. For register queries, include the municipality, ward or station code where relevant.

First, give the issue a focus.

Choose a topic and broad location. A municipality and ward help us connect your question to the right record.

Now, tell us what needs checking.

At least 50 characters and eight words. For a correction, identify the entry and the change you believe is needed. Do not include ID numbers, private addresses or information about how someone intends to vote.

A municipal notice, budget, public meeting record or other checkable source helps. You can submit a lead without one; it remains unverified.

Choose how to stay involved.

May we contact you for clarification?

Optional. Your contact details stay with the editorial team and are not published.

Submitting does not publish your account or subscribe you to email. We cannot promise to investigate every lead. This is an editorial service; election administration queries still belong with the IEC.

Corrections and publication updates

Each entry explains a confirmed change, its date and the affected pages. A record correction changes information; a website update changes how that information is presented.

Elyas article updated for termination and interim court ruling

The 9 September analysis has been revised to include the DA’s subsequent membership termination and the Western Cape High Court’s 2 November refusal of interim relief. Its earlier present-tense account of his position and unanswered disciplinary consequences is superseded. The final Part B review was not determined by that ruling. The original publication date is preserved and the article carries a visible update note.

Archive author cards aligned with their credited contributors

Some archive articles displayed a generic editorial desk card even when the byline credited a named contributor or a different desk. The profile cards now identify and link to the credited author or desk. This includes Sonwabile Ngoza’s earlier youth-empowerment article and Bongani Mabusela’s Maqoma essay. Their original bylines and article text are retained.

PDF page-footer text removed from candidate names

A documented transcription repair removed trailing PDF page-footer text from 2,135 candidate-name strings after comparison with the published national source. Nomination rows were neither added nor removed. The research note records the method, source and limits.
